Work Doctor's National Leadership in the Field
WBI founders introduced workplace bullying to the U.S. in 1997. Since then, WBI has distinguished itself as the premier information resource on the topic -- books, websites, over 700 media appearances, research, dissemination of findings at scientific conferences and in academic journals. Beginning in 1998, the WBI founders began working with employers wishing to identify and stop workplace bullying. Their consulting firm, Work Doctor® Inc., has perfected comprehensive organizational interventions that correct current, and prevent future, workplace bullying. Currently, WBI and Work Doctor are conducting a national demonstration project for public schools where an anti-bullying initiative for adults is introduced and impact assessed. We understand the fallacy of introducing controls for only one group of potential offenders when other groups are free to abuse at will.
WBI/Work Doctor® bring substantial experience in healthcare. Both Dr. Ruth Namie (PhD,
Clinical Psychology) and Dr. Gary Namie (PhD, Social Psychology) worked for Kaiser
Permanente -- she in California and he in Hawaii as the inaugural Management
Development director in charge of all non-clinical training and education for physicians and
staff. Gary Namie also directed an internal consulting team of Organization Development
experts for a California hospital system tackling workplace climate issues. Since 1998,
Work Doctor consulting focuses exclusively on workplace bullying/abusive work
environment projects for employers in the U.S. and Canada. The Namie Blueprint to
Correct and Prevent Workplace Bullying is system they created for proactive
organizations. Work Doctor counts hospitals and multi-facility systems as clients. For
years we have been implementing solutions for our clients which mirror those outlined by
JCAHO. It comes as no surprise to us that our proven methods have been incorporated
into JCAHO's leadership standard and suggested actions.
In brief, we are the experts in dysfunctional, disruptive, abusive, bullying workplaces. We are the innovators and the recognized "go-to" experts. Our focus is on behaviors and reversing destructiveness by coupling systemic and individualized strategies. And we understand legal liability. Gary Namie serves as an expert witness in bullying-related cases and was the expert in the Indiana "bullying trial" (Doescher v. Raess).
To bolster Work Doctor's JCAHO compliance initiative for 2009, we have added to the team two healthcare industry experts -- cardiologist Dr. Lowell Gerber and Susie Cadena, MBA. Dr. Gerber brings 30 years experience in percutaneous coronary and peripheral vascular interventions and cardiology care in rural America as as record of teaching and mentoring physicians. Ms. Cadena joins our team with over 20 years of leadership experience in healthcare administration across several specialties and has a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by healthcare organizations to remain viable and profitable in the current business climate.
Clearly, when healthcare organizations seek to comply with the new JCAHO-mandated LD.03.01.01 or to implement any of the suggested actions, Work Doctor consultants are the professionals to choose.
We are prepared to facilitate your organization's solution prior to January 1, 2009 or as shortly thereafter as schedules allow.
