Cardiologist Lowell Gerber, MD, FACC

Dr. Gerber received both his undergraduate degree and masters degree in physiology of exercise from the University of Illinois and his medical degree from Loyola University, Stritch School of Medicine. During his postgraduate education, Dr. Gerber was a Research Fellow in Experimental Pulmonary Pathology at the Stritch School of Medicine, completed his residency in Internal Medicine and completed his fellowship in Cardiology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida in 1980.

He was trained in percutaneous coronary and peripheral vascular interventions in 1980. In 1986, Dr. Gerber received training in the management of valvular and structural heart disease using percutaneous catheter techniques at the University of Normandy in Rouen, France.

Dr. Gerber is a Diplomate in the American Board of Internal Medicine, Subspecialty Board of Cardiovascular Disease, Subspecialty Nuclear Cardiology and Subspecialty Interventional Cardiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions and the American Heart Association. He is also a member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, International Society of Endovascular Specialists, The Society for Vascular Medicine, the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, and the Society of Geriatric Cardiology, and the Heart Rhythm Society.

Dr. Gerber has held academic and research faculty appointments and has co-authored multiple cardiology publications and textbook chapters. He was an early practitioner of percutaneous coronary and peripheral interventions as well as nuclear imaging. After nearly 30 years of interventional cardiology practice, he is now transitioned into clinical, non-invasive cardiology and geriatric cardiology. He serves as an expert witness for civil malpractice lawsuits. For 30 years, Dr. Gerber has immersed himself in interdisciplinary challenges and providing access to quality cardiology care in rural America.
