Ruth Namie, PhD

Dr. Ruth Namie has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Her three-part professional career began in management. She was Executive Corporate Training Director for two Sheraton Hotels in Hawaii.
During and after her clinical training, Dr. Namie spent several years helping individuals and families grappling with various forms at several chemical dependency clinics in the Kaiser Permanente, Northern California system. Note: Dr. Namie is not now a licensed psychologist, nor does she practice psychology.
Since 1998, she has coached thousands of bullied individuals, both women and men. Lessons from targets, coupled with her business experience and academic training, make Dr. Ruth Namie an expert in Work Trauma, the effects of repeated, unremitting bullying and humiliation.
Together they founded the Workplace Bullying Institute. They wrote two books on workplace bullying, the most recent is, The
Bully At Work (3rd edition, Sourcebooks, January 2009).
The Namies' bullying-related research and work have been featured numerous times on network TV -- CNBC, Today Show, Good Morning America, Early Show, Nightline, CNN -- on local TV, and in the national press
New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Chicago Tribune, Wall Street Journal, National Post, Toronto Star, Macleans, ABA Journal, and radio across the U.S. and Canada. Appearances total over 700 in all media.
