Susie Cadena, MBA, CMPE
Ms. Cadena holds a summa cum laude Bachelors of Science degree in Organizational Communication from the University of Texas at Austin. She also holds a Masters in Business Administration from UT at Austin, receiving the Kozmetsky Award academic excellence.
Susie has been a Certified Member of The American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE) since 1996. She is a member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), a national professional organization for healthcare administrators. She is currently President-Elect of Texas MGMA, the state affiliated chapter of MGMA, and has served on TMGMA's Board of Directors since 2004. A member of San Antonio MGMA, Susie is a past-President of that organization, serving as a board member for five years.
As a former adjunct faculty member of San Antonio College in the Medical Assisting Program, Susie enhanced and learned to embrace her role as a teacher, trainer, mentor and coach to the managers and supervisors who have reported to her in the workplace. She is a current member of the Medical Assisting Advisory Committee at San Antonio College.
Susie Cadena has 20 years of direct leadership experience in health care administration. Her diverse background spans several medical specialties, including cardiology, internal medicine, neurosurgery and OB/GYN. In her leadership roles, she has been charged with the turnkey scope of profit/loss responsibilities. She has demonstrated strong operational, financial and administrative skills and possesses a thorough understanding of the current healthcare landscape. Her proven performance in business operations and financial management has leveraged results for employers, despite the continued business reality in the healthcare industry which has forced organizations to face declining reimbursements in conjunction with steadily rising expenses. Susie has also provided operational and strategic management consulting services to solo medical practitioners and group practices.
Susie's professional career has provided her with over 15 years of human resource management experience. Having directed the revenue cycle process for a 700-physician academic practice, with approximately 175 staff members in her extended reporting line, she fully understands the critical role a well-motivated, cohesive workforce plays in meeting a high standard of excellence within any organization. Having frequently been called upon to execute the role of change agent, Susie has learned to appreciate the importance of corporate culture and the workplace environment in successful acceptance of organizational change initiatives.
Ms. Cadena has been charged with oversight of compliance and regulatory issues as part of her leadership responsibilities, from policy development, through education and training, to enforcement. In one of her roles, she successfully completed a Medicare re-certification process and site survey to maintain the status as a certified rehabilitation agency.
